Am I LGBT?

Being gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender is just as normal – and wonderful – as being straight. Are you wondering if you’re LGBT+?
  • Maybe you’re a guy who’s noticing how gorgeous some male celebrities are – you’re not interested in the female celebrities your friends are always talking about.
  • Maybe you’re a girl who’s got a huge crush on a friend
  • Or, are you a guy or a girl who’s feeling attracted to both your male and your female friends?
  • Maybe you’ve always felt different from your friends, and you’ve just realised that the word ‘gay’ might fit how you feel.
  • Maybe you’ve always known you were gay, and you’ve been feeling alone. Now you’re looking to meet other young people who are like you.

It’s great that you’re starting to understand your own feelings, that’s the most important thing. Take your time, there’s no need for you to be under any pressure to make decisions about this.

It's important you chat to someone you feel comfortable with whether that be a friend, parent or teacher. Also if you prefer you can speak anonymously to any of the helplines listed at the top of this page.

Stand Up Week 2020

Stand Up Awareness Week took place from November 16th-20th, 2020.
Stand Up Awareness Week is a time for the Temple Carrig community to take a stand against homophobic, biphobic and transphobic bullying. This week is an opportunity for schools to look at how they can make them safe and supportive places for LGBTI+ students.
On Friday the 20th November 2020 during  Stand Up week,  we had colours day where all students could come into school in the colour assigned to each year group.
What a sea of colours it was and a way to let everyone
know that TCG is a safe and inclusive space.

Stand Up Week  2019

During Stand Up Week 2019 we were honored to have Archer Bradshaw in 6th year share his excellent and moving TedTalk during assembly and he rightly received a standing ovation from the students and staff . Watch his TedTalk below.
Students of East Glendalough were kind and brave enough to share their advice and experiences with us at assembly for #StandUpWeek. They spoke of promoting tolerance & acceptance of LGBTIQ+ in our school communities.
TCG & the EGS Open Minds group also met for discussions and cupcakes, demonstrating how we value the differences in one another, encouraging us all to be our true selves.
